Every Mosaic program is taught live and online. No recordings, no self-paced modules, no app to keep a streak in. You meet your instructor at a set time each week for twelve weeks, and the work happens between those sessions as much as in them.

There is no textbook to buy and nothing arrives in the post. Your syllabus, workbook, homework, graded feedback, final assessment and certificate are all delivered online, and they stay available to you for the whole term.
Live video sessions with your instructor. Ninety minutes, once a week, at a time agreed with you before the term starts. Sessions are not recorded unless you ask and your instructor agrees.
Slides, readings, audio and the workbook are shared as links or PDFs you can open on any device. Arabic materials come with and without vowel marks, and transliteration is available on request.
Set at the end of each session, submitted before the next one, returned marked with written comments. Grades accumulate across the term and count toward the 80% you need for a certificate.
Nothing exotic. If you can hold a video call comfortably, you can take a Mosaic class.
A tablet works, but a laptop is better: you will be reading Arabic script, typing, and looking at shared slides at the same time. A phone is not enough for a ninety-minute session.
The single biggest improvement you can make. Headphones stop the echo that makes it hard for your instructor to correct your pronunciation, which is most of what a language class is.
Around 5 Mbps up and down is plenty. What matters more than speed is stability: a wired connection or sitting near the router beats a fast signal that drops out twice a session.
You will be speaking out loud, often badly at first, for ninety minutes. Being somewhere you are not self-conscious makes more difference to your progress than any piece of equipment.
Optional, and we recommend it anyway. Writing Arabic letters by hand is how the shapes stick, and it is the one part of this course we would not do on a screen.
Five minutes of preparation saves the first fifteen minutes of your first session, which you have paid for.
We send a link with your confirmation. Open it once, in advance, and let it install and ask for camera and microphone permission then, rather than at the moment your first class starts.
Every video app has a built-in audio test. Run it with the headphones you will actually use. Sound that works in one app is not a guarantee in another.
If you took the free test, your level and recommended program came through with it. If you skipped it, your instructor will place you in the first fifteen minutes of session one instead.
You will have it before you pay. Read week one and week twelve. Knowing where this ends changes how you sit in the first class.
Speak to a grandparent. Read the Quran without transliteration. Lead a meeting without rehearsing it. Tell your instructor in session one — it changes what they emphasize for twelve weeks.
Ninety minutes, structured the same way each week so you always know where you are in it.
Homework returned and discussed. Mistakes from last week are worked through before anything new is introduced.
New material, taught and practiced out loud. This is the part where you are expected to talk more than your instructor does.
Applied work: reading, listening, role-play or writing, depending on the program and the week.
Recap, questions, and the week's homework set with the deadline stated.
A graded program only means something if both sides hold up their end. Here is ours, and here is yours.
Twelve sessions is the whole program. Missing three is a quarter of it. Tell your instructor in advance if you cannot make one and it can usually be moved.
Around two to three hours a week outside class. It is marked, it counts toward your 80%, and it is where most of the actual learning happens.
Students who protect themselves from mistakes learn slowest. Your instructor's job is to correct you, which they cannot do if you say nothing.
The placement test takes ten minutes and gives you a CEFR level and the program that matches it. No account, nothing installed.
